Outreach/WI LBGT Chamber of Commerce/A Room of One’s Own: 4th Annual Transgender Day of Visibility Market and Resource Fair

March 29 @ 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm

This year’s event features a resource fair from 3-7 p.m. that brings together 15+ nonprofit organizations, care providers, advocates, artists, vendors, and supporters, including: Bernie & Zuzu, Camp & Glamp Adventures, Girl Scout Troop 8187, Center for Patient Partnerships, Chase My Creations, Children’s Theater of Madison, Fair Wisconsin, GSAFE, LGBT Chamber, Madison East Indivisible, Mel’s Crafty Critters, OPEN (Out Professional Engagement Network), OutReach LGBTQ+ Community Center, A Room of One’s Own, Saplings Psychotherapy, Trans Medical Mutual Aid, and Trans Resistance Action Committee.

From 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., the Trans Day of Visibility resource fair will be masks required. Masks will be required to enter during this time; while we will provide disposable masks at the door, please bring your own to cut down on waste. The resource fair will conclude at 7 p.m.

The celebration will continue with Bingo presented by local Drag performer, Kendra Banx$. The Bingo will begin at 7:30 p.m. and is $10 to participate. The Giant Jones Brewing tasting room is open until 9 p.m. “We are hoping to create a community event that draws allies and members of the trans, nonbinary and greater LGBTQ+ community,” says Giant Jones Brewing co-owner, Erika Jones. “In the past few years, it has been a real testament of joy and support, and that is what we are aiming to create with this resource fair – to connect with people and resources that exist in our community to support folks who are trans, nonbinary, LGBTQ+ and allies.”

This is the 4th year Giant Jones Brewing has hosted a Trans Day of Visibility Celebration. International Transgender Day of Visibility is Monday, March 31 and “celebrates the joy and resilience of trans and nonbinary people everywhere by elevating voices and experiences from these communities,” according to the Human Rights Campaign. “As a trans and women-owned and operated brewery, it’s important to us to be visible in the community, and to celebrate other trans folks doing great things,” says Giant Jones Brewer and Co-Owner, Jessica Jones. “Being an out, trans person, and visible because of our business, means that we have the opportunity to highlight valuable roles trans people play in the community.”
