Product/Service

Budget Bicycle has four shops on Regent Street each specializing in a different area of biking. Our services include: selling new and used bikes as well as cycling accessories, renting bikes for short and long term (including the free red bike program), operating a bicycle museum, stocking a variety of bicycle parts, as well as performing repairs of all kinds. Because we support the buy local/local economy philosophies, we encourage alternative options in place of continually purchasing brand new bikes. We employ some of the best, most experienced mechanics in Madison to perform repairs and improvements on the many trade-ins we take in and resell.

Buying Local

Buying local makes sense on so many levels. On a basic level, it is local people banning together against bigger corporate companies whose interests come from elsewhere outside of the community.  On a more personal level, in supporting local businesses as opposed to huge national chains, you encourage the eclectic nature of Madison. Support for locally owned businesses has resulted in the wonderful variety that we have here in Madison today, in everything from our buildings to our restaurants, film development shops, and radio stations. Budget Bicycle is an example of one of these great locally owned businesses here in Madison.

History

27 years ago Roger rented out his first storefront after having fixed up bikes out of his apartment throughout his college years here at UW. The business continued to grow and evolve into the four locations that exist today along Regent Street. This unique structure of multiple shops all within a minute's walk of each other has allowed each location to hone their expertise in their respective areas of biking. As a result, whatever your biking need may be, you're sure to find what you are looking for at Budget Bicycle.
