Product/Service
Anthology is a new paper and craft shop featuring original Made in Madison
creations as well as artisan supplies, craft kits, how-to books, craft parties
and drop-in activities such as our hugely popular Make-a-Button-for-a-Buck ($1).
Many of our handmade creations are cleverly crafted by local artists using
recycled materials: bottle cap necklaces, juice pouch wallets, storybook
bracelets, mosaic picture frames, vintage fabric purses, and Madison photographs
framed in reclaimed wood. Buying Local
We provide a highly visible venue for local independent crafters to sell their
work and recirculate their money back into the community. Rather than await a
cargo container from China we can make merchandise right at the shop and
ask our artists to drop off more work the next time they are in the
neighborhood. Many of our crafters like to buy from each other and shop local thrift stores for their raw materials. We encourage people who reserve our craft table for private parties to spend a whole day downtown, shopping, dining and creating. History
Sisters Laura and Sachi Komai grew up in Madison and opened Anthology in March
of 2008 in order to showcase local handmade goods and provide a creativity lab
on a burgeoning arts block. We have both taken numerous workshops and classes in
drawing, printmaking, bookmaking and collage and are happy to share our crafty
ideas.
