Product/Service

Asian Wisconzine is the first and only all-inclusive magazine (print and online) that provides a cultural focus on diverse Asian peoples of Wisconsin. It contains columns and stories about people, issues, and events; struggles and successes; intergenerational and identity concerns; and many more. It's my way of sharing our cultures, uniting our diverse invisibility. In this sense, Asian Wisconzine provides an educational tool to promote understanding and acceptance of each other's differences.

Asian Wisconzine provides a space for other businesses (through paid advertising) to reach out to our growing market of Asian Americans who are generally success-driven and goal oriented.

[Asian Wisconzine also does web designing, web hosting, ad designing, and preparing brochures and other promotional materials.]

Buying Local

It is important to me because helping local businesses grow ensures a healthy business community in our area. I buy local products and services all the time. I hope other local businesses will also see Asian Wisconzine's capability to help them grow too (in terms of increased consumers from our readership) and diversify their staff as well.

History

Asian Wisconzine started in 2005 when I realized the need for an all-inclusive Asian American publication in Madison area. While the Blacks and the Latinos have their own publications, there was none for us, Asian Americans. I believed then as now, that Asian Americans must start to be visible and express their own voices, through their magazine.

I organized more than 20 Asian American leaders from various Asian ethnicities; we brainstormed, met again, and launched the magazine in late 2004. Most of them agreed to become columnists.
