Our specialties include: premium origin and estate coffees, certified Organic and Fair Trade coffees, master-crafted blends and award-winning espresso. Ancora's master baristas are noted for their skilled preparation of high-quality espresso-based beverages and coffee-related products as well as for creating a warm and congenial coffeehouse atmosphere. Madison owned and Madison based, Ancora is consistently named Madison's favorite local Coffee Roaster and Coffeehouse. We launched Ancora in 1994 out of a passion for Specialty Coffee and a desire to bring that experience to the Dane County community. George and Sue Krug opened the first Ancora Coffeehouse in downtown Madison on King Street in 1994. With George roasting the beans and Sue pulling the espresso, Ancora quickly grew renowned for delicious specialty coffee and warm coffeehouse atmosphere. Today, in addition to the original King Street café, Ancora owns and operates cafés on University Avenue, Monroe Street and at MATC's Truax Campus. There are also independently owned and operated Ancora cafés at the Dane County Regional Airport and in Fitchburg and our coffee is proudly served at hundreds of independent coffeehouses and fine restaurants across the nation.
