Buying Local

Buying local is so important, it keeps our local economy busseling. Creative Energy has a great customer base who has supported us throughout the past 30 years. By shopping locally you are supporting the people who work in this community.

History

Creative  Energy grew out of a grass-roots effort to build awareness about energy conservation. Originally, the company focused primarily on public education through forums and energy fairs.  In 1977, we obtained a grant to design and develop an insulated roman shade that home owners could easily make themselves.  We called it WINDOW WARMER TM. Many people liked the product but told us they had no time to make their own.  When asked if they would be interested if one was produced for them, the answer was yes!  That's how Creative Energy Products came to be.  In 1979, we set up a storefront on Williamson Street where we began manufacturing and selling WINDOW WARMERS.  Soon after, we also began selling other insulated window treatments such as WINDOW QUILT, made by Appropriate Technology in Burlington, Vermont, now out of business.  Thirty years later, in the same storefront, Creative Energy Products still specializes in energy-saving window treatments. We've also expanded our product line to include custom draperies, shades, and blinds - as well as other custom homegoods and decorative accessories - to offer our customers a full range of choices.
